Here was my inspiration for the entry way painted stripes as you may remember.
Wow. Sad sad sad. I can't believe we lived with this sad state of affairs for so long!
And now, drum roll please, here is the finished wall!
Yay! The colors don't read exactly right in these photos; I tried to fix it but I'm obviously not terribly good at that. But you get the general idea. Bright stripes of color!
You'll notice too that the hand rail, tacky spindles and crooked newel post are gone. Mmm hmm, yes, very nice. Now your view of the stripes is decidedly unobstructed. Now too, you can see that awful excuse for carpet more readily, so yeah, that has got to go soon. And I need to figure out what to paint the rest of the stair hallway with to get rid of that dog vomit color. I need a seriously tall ladder for that job.
The colors used are black, Seascape Green, Sonata, Dalen's Duckling, Wild Mulberry, Leap Frog, and Summer Shower.
Mike was talking about putting up a short header going across from the stair wall to the door wall in order to give the entry some definition and a sense of enclosure. I suggested removing the can light and putting in some sort of ceiling/low hanging pendant fixture. So, those ideas get added to the docket mix and we'll see what comes out.
What do you guys think? Like it? Hate it? Totally want to do it? Never would do that in a million years?
LOVE it! That bright green really makes it. And good call on the hand rail et al. This looks SO cool!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Projects like this with multiple colors do require some coordination and you're right, the green really ties it all together. Glad you like it!
